The Campus as a Virtual Living Lab (open to all)

Theme: The COVID experience has blurred traditional boundaries. Where does campus end and our homes and communities begin? In this workshop, we attempt to redefine the campus as a living lab concept by hearing from college and university staff that migrated student projects and experiential learning to remote implementation this spring. These transitions leveraged technology and creative processes to ensure that students continued to be well-directed, supported and successful in their projects while advancing campus and community partner goals.
Presenters: SEI (www.seiinc.org), in conjunction with Skyline College (https://www.skylinecollege.edu/) will pull from their partnership in Energize Colleges (www.energizecolleges.org) to present this interactive workshop focused on the paradigm shift that the spring campus shut-downs have required for student applied learning, and what it may mean for living lab efforts moving forward. Campus representatives hailing from a mix of functional areas and from a spectrum of UC, CSU, and community colleges will share their experiences engaging students in meaningful projects even while the physical campus was off-limits. Participants will benefit from selecting into virtual breakout groups to work through tangible approaches and issues relevant to their respective campuses.
State of California Recycling & Local Responses: CalRecycle’s Virtual Public Meeting (open to all)

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will host a dynamic virtual session on the state of recycling in California. CalRecycle’s subject matter experts will analyze events that are currently impacting recycling, and discuss new recycling legislation and how state and local governments are responding.
